360 Riot Walk at ISEA 2020Henry Tsang
The International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA) is an annual event where individuals and organizations working in arts, science, and technology come together to have an interdisciplinary discussion about electronic arts. Henry Tsang was one of the participating artists at the 2020 symposium and talked about how 360 Riot Walk employs 360 video technology as a way to address racism and historic white supremacy in Canada.
As a prominent arts and technology symposium, ISEA has a wide array of programming activities including workshops, exhibitions, academic papers, and artist talks. The theme of the 2020 symposium was “Why Sentience?” While the term “sentience” means capacity of feeling, the organizers of ISEA wanted to cover topics beyond the literal definition of the theme. They were interested in exploring questions that demonstrate species and cultures coexisting together are not easy.
